We first met during the summer of 2020 at our gym, CrossFit 1490, lifting heavy weights and sharing laughs. What started as casual conversations turned into a genuine friendship—workouts, dinners, and endless talks became part of our routine. At the time, Vero was in a relationship, and Luis was nothing but respectful, offering unwavering support as a friend.

When that chapter in Vero’s life ended, Luis became a source of comfort and strength during the healing process. Over the holidays, fate had a funny way of bringing us even closer. We both planned trips to Puerto Rico and unknowingly booked the same flights. A positive test result kept us grounded, and Luis opened his home for Vero and her dog, South, to quarantine and spend the holidays.

What started as friendly support turned into something neither of us expected. One night, as we watched movies, a quiet moment led to our first kiss. It was both exciting and terrifying. We couldn’t ignore the chemistry, but we also didn’t want to risk the incredible friendship we’d built.

Luis took a leap of faith and shared his feelings: “You’re the one I want, and I’m willing to wait for you to heal.” While Vero was hesitant at first, she realized the truth—this wasn’t just friendship; it was the beginning of something extraordinary.
